Spartacus – Gods of the Arena


Who doesn’t like watching buff dudes in loin clothes armed with big scary swords slicing and dicing each other? No one, that’s who. You can relive the glory days of the Roman Empire once again with Starz’s “Spartacus: Gods of the Arena”, the mini-series that was created to flesh out the House of Batiatus, and at the same time tie fans over until Season 2 of “Spartacus” returns. Hellraiser: Revelations (2011) Movie Review

Steven Craven and Nico Bradley head off on a road trip to Tijuana, but things take a strange turn on their tequila fueled getaway. A mysterious vagrant approaches them in a bar, giving them the infamous puzzle box and promising experiences beyond their wildest imaginations. Nico soon solves the box, but instead of breathtaking pleasure, he only encounters Pinhead; soon the duo vanishes with no evidence left behind but a blood splattered motel room, the box, and a video camera that affords the viewer a rare chance to see a Cenobite without a soul rending experience.

MIFFF Review: Midnight Son (2011)


Almost immediately director Scott Leberecht’s new horror film “Midnight Son” calls to mind George Romero’s 1976 movie “Martin”. Both are ostensibly vampire movies, but vampire movies that tweak the formula and refuse to follow conventions. Gone are the gothic, overdramatic affectations that have permeated the genre for years, and let’s put it this way, this vampire certainly doesn’t sparkle or glint like a diamond in the sun.
